'Likhna sikh jaao pehle': Congratulating KKR, Umar Akmal's goof-up sets social media abuzz

NEW DELHI: Pakistan keeper-batter Umar Akmal found himself in midst of social media trolling as he misspelled Kolkata Knight Riders while congratulating the franchise for their third IPL title.

KKR on Sunday hammered Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in a lop-sided final in Chennai to clinch the title after a gap of 10 years.

As wishes poured in for the franchise from all quarters, Akmal too joined the bandwagon, lauding the side's title triumph. However in his message he misspelt KKR which led to hilarious reactions on social media.

"Congratulations to IPL for winning 3rd KKR," joked a user.

"Winning to third KKL conhrjulation trophy." wrote another user on Akmal's message.

“KKL to congratulations on IPL third winning trophy. Lord Umar.” wrote another

“Daru pike twitter mt chalao bhai,” wrote a user.

"KKR likhna sikh jaao pehle fir hashtag banana," said another one.

"Bhai ye KKL kaunsi team hai? Lord Umar Akmal is being Umar Akmal," said another user.

"You just woke up after more than 24 hours," wrote another user.

Mitchell Starc bowled a sensational opening spell to fire KKR to their third title.

Kolkata bowled out Hyderabad for IPL's lowest total of 113 in a final as Australia's left-arm quick Starc returned figures of 2 for 14 to live up to his top billing in the world's most lucrative T20 tournament.

Starc went to Kolkata for a record USD 2.98 million in the December auction and ended the IPL with two stellar performances, including a match-winning 3 for 34 in the first play-off to hammer the same opponent.

Kolkata's batsmen had it easy and despite Sunil Narine's early departure, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who made 39, and Venkatesh Iyer, on 52 not out, helped the team home with 9.3 overs to spare after a partnership of 91.
