Yearly releases are nothing new in video games, but the truth of the matter is that a lot of publishers seem to have moved away from it. Well, except for Activision, but they were never going to do it in the first place. Now, however, both Capcom and Konami have stated, back to back, that they’re bringing it back, although in ways a little different than before.
We covered a few days ago how Capcom believes in the importance of remakes, so much so that they’re willing to push them even harder to achieve yearly Resident Evil releases to fill in the gaps between mainline entries. And that’s completely fine, especially since the remakes have been, to put it mildly, absolute bangers so far.
But Konami’s been away from mainstream gaming for a very long time and now wants to come back into the spotlight. To achieve this, it plans to annualize its biggest IP at the moment, Silent Hill, with a remake lined up already, as well as a spin-off.
