A Dublin home has been left with major damage to its roof and chimney after being struck by lightning today.
The house, in the Birchwood Heights area of Tallaght, suffered the damage during the intense thunderstorms that hit Dublin this evening. Homeowner Derek Neilson was in the sitting room when the lightning struck but thankfully was not injured.
A local told Dublin Live that the community is rallying together to help the Mr Neilson tonight, with some neighbours up on ladders trying to make the roof tenable against the weather.

A Status Yellow weather warning was in place in Dublin and ten other counties earlier today as thunderstorms wrecked havoc across the country.
The thunderstorms also caused disruption at Dublin Airport this evening. Eleven flights were diverted and many more were hit with delays.
