Lifetime pet ban handed to Nottingham man who fed dog chocolate and beat him

A Nottingham man has been banned from keeping any animal for life after he repeatedly punched and fed chocolate to a dog. Owen Rippon, 18, of Woodville Road, Sherwood, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Magistrates' Court yesterday (April 18).

He caused unnecessary suffering to a protected animal - between March 20 and April 4 this year at an address in A'court Street, Radford, The suffering was to the dog - where he repeatedly punched and fed chocolate to the poor animal.

Nottinghamshire Police charged Rippon after a video emerged over social media. The dog was located and taken to the vets where he was deemed fit and well.

Rippon received the lifetime ban, and was handed a 26-week prison sentence, suspended for two years. He must attend an accredited programme for 31 days, do ten rehabilitation activity days, and pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of 31 days.
