Life on a new housing estate in Stapleford where the best thing is the people

Homeowners on a new Nottinghamshire housing estate say that the best thing about living there is the people and community.

Residents have moved into homes built as part of the first phase of properties on the Fields Farm Way development in Stapleford.

The developer Peveril Homes bought the site from W.Westerman Ltd.

Elaine Brock moved to the Fields Farm Way estate last December from Somerset.

She said: “We only moved in the week before Christmas.

“Everyone seems really friendly, it’s really quiet and so far we are really enjoying it.

“It’s all very new. The facilities seem nice and near to get to. So far we are finding it so lovely.

“We’ve had neighbours come and introduce themselves, it’s been very friendly.

“We were surprised about how quiet it actually was - it’s been lovely.”

Paul Eldon, 42, a case manager, said one of the things he enjoys about living on the estate is the neighbours.

Mr Eldon said: “Mainly the neighbours - everyone we have met is really friendly.

“Quite a lot of us have got kids around the same age so it’s really good for that kind of thing.

“When it’s Christmas and Halloween all the houses will do a bit of a show - do the houses up and make an effort.

“Make it really enjoyable for the kids.

“They’re spacious properties.

“We actually have a decent sized back garden and you don’t normally get that.

“It’s quite convenient as well - access to the M1 it’s a pretty good location for that.

“It’s close to a lot of green areas.”

A resident, who asked not to be named, told Nottinghamshire Live: “It’s a nice estate to live on - we all know each other.

“There’s quite a lot to do like walking around.

“It’s lovely especially on this street - we all moved in pretty much at the same time.

“We know enough to wave and say good morning and good afternoon which is really nice.

“We have quite a nice garden.

“It was already grassed for us so we didn't have to do that.

“Parking isn’t one of my favourite things.”

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said that the best thing about living on Fields Farm Way is: “The people around and also being close to the greenery and taking walks.

“The community is really good - we enjoy it.

“We enjoy the property here - beautiful, good standard.

“Especially here, it’s not as crowded as some of the new buildings we’ve seen.

“Generally we have almost everything that we need locally and we like that as well.”

The developers have plans for an additional 332 homes to be added to the site.

Nearby locals had previously told Nottinghamshire Live they welcome the new homes but have concerns over increased traffic.
