Residents have shared their concerns about a Nottinghamshire bypass. Epperstone Bypass is a busy road near Lowdham that villagers claim has become known for accidents, flooding and vehicles being driven too fast.
Lowdham resident Jim Bray, 50, believes the bypass speed limit should be reduced as 50mph is too fast for the area. Jim said: "I'm not bothered about the noise, but it's the cars going so fast, it needs to be a 30mph. There are kids every morning at the junction and they have to cross.
"Yes there is crossings but the number of accidents we have just here is phenomenal. It is too fast, it doesn't need to be a 50, a 30 would be better and that junction is extremely dangerous."

Jim added: "I've had two or three friends that have had accidents around here and they are locals that know the road. The problem isn't just the bypass it's Gunthorpe Bridge, as that's another accident blackspot.
"It's just the speed the drive at, if they slowed down it would be quieter and because it's a 50 everyone is revving from the roundabout which is causing pollution."
Administrator Jo Smith, 59, who has lived in Lowdham for a number of years, said she is also concerned about the road. She said: "The drivers pay no attention to the speed limit, they go through at what they want and that's happening more and more. It's worse around peak times but there is a lot of traffic and more than there used to be throughout the day, and at weekends it's bad."
She described the noise of constant traffic as "annoying" and added that many drivers now cut through Lambley Road, which means sometimes she can't pull off her own drive. Jo added: "The other thing I have noticed as a walker if that there is a lot of circular walks around here and some involve crossing the bypass which is impossible and there's no pedestrian refuge in the middle of it, so the footpath there is unusable."
Jo explained that "when they opened that new road (Gedling Access Road) it was supposed to take the traffic off. They come down here from Mapperley and go off to the A46 and the A1."
Retired couple, David and Carole Clifford, in their seventies, have lived near the bypass for almost 60 years. David explained: "On the main road it's got a lot busier as a lot more houses have been built and they don't stick to the speed limits."
Carole added: "We have had more and more traffic going up here especially since all the houses were built in Mapperley Top. It blocks up in all directions and it's got worse in recent years."
She described the bypass as "quite dangerous."
