Lidl US has expanded a voluntary recall of two varieties of Eridanous Shortbread Cookies due to undeclared allergens, according to an official announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on July 31, 2026.
Lidl Expands Recall of Eridanous Shortbread Cookies
The recall covers all units of the following products that were packaged with foreign-language labeling: Eridanous Shortbread Cookies with Chocolate Truffle Coating & Apricot Filling (11.6 oz, UPC 4056489125839) and Eridanous Shortbread Cookies with Apricot Filling and Cocoa Topping with Coconut Sprinkles (11.6 oz, UPC 4056489125846). Both products are sold in 330-gram boxes under the Eridanous brand at Lidl stores.
Why the Cookies Are Being Recalled
The problem: both products were distributed with packaging that contained only foreign-language text and lacked English ingredient lists, nutrition facts panels, and required allergen declarations. As a result, shoppers had no way to identify that the cookies contain wheat, soy, milk, egg, and tree nut (coconut) — five common allergens. The FDA notes that people with an allergy or sensitivity to any of these ingredients run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the products.
This is an expansion of a recall that Lidl US originally initiated on July 24, 2026. The expansion was triggered after a review of supplier distribution records flagged additional units of the coconut-sprinkle variety as potentially carrying the same foreign-language packaging error.
The affected products were distributed to Lidl US retail locations in ten states and the District of Columbia between July 15 and July 28, 2026. The states involved are Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
How to Get a Refund or More Information
Shoppers who purchased either product and have an allergy or sensitivity to the listed ingredients should not consume them. Lidl US is asking customers to either discard the cookies or return them to any Lidl store for a full refund. A receipt is not required for the return.
