A new Lidl is set to open in Edinburgh early next year after a licence was approved by the council.
The supermarket is moving into in a vacant unit at Meadowbank which was occupied by TK Maxx until its sudden closure last month.
The space will be subdivided, with the German-owned food retailer opening in the larger, right hand side unit at the Abbeyhill shopping park.
