Lidl launch £20 celeb-approved hair tool that rivals £500 Dyson Airwrap

Shoppers who have spent the last few years lusting after the bouncy blow dry look that can seemingly only be achieved by the eye-wateringly priced Dyson Airwrap might now be in luck, after discount supermarket Lidl released an affordable hair tool line to rival the luxury brand.

The retailer has teamed up with international superstar Rita Ora to launch an affordable hair care range including the Rita Ora 2 in 1 Volume Hair Drying Brush, which is said to be a purse-friendly alternative of the popular Dyson Airwrap.

Complete with a ceramic-keratin coating and cold air setting, as well as two heat and speed settings, the features are certainly similar to that of the Dyson Airwrap, although the more expensive tool offers three heat and speed settings, alongside the cool shot.

While the Dyson Airwrap is priced between £450 and £500, depending on the colour, the new Lidl hair tool comes in at a budget £19.99. The hot brush can be used to create salon-worthy curls and blowouts, before being set with the cool air option for a longer-lasting style.

Lidl said: “Easy to use, and promising standout styles every time, the budget-friendly beauty buys are perfect for recreating some of Rita Ora’s signature looks at home – at just a fraction of the cost of a trip to the salon.”

The Dyson dupe forms part of a range of hair tools launched in collaboration with the ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ singer. Other affordable hair tools that can be found in the middle of Lidl include the £19.99 Rita Ora Conical Curling Tongs.

The tongs boast an extra-wide heating rod, ceramic-keratin coating, variable temperature settings of 120-180 degrees celsius, and come complete with a heat glove to ensure safety with every style.

There’s also the Rita Ora Compact Hair Dryer priced at £14.99, and Rita Ora Hairbrush for less than £3. Ideal for creating TikTok-trendy loose waves, red carpet-ready curls, or just a quick fix after a gym session, these portable gadgets are a handbag-must have.

The supermarket has said the Rita Ora Personal Care range - which is available in stores from today (Thursday, February 2) - is ‘affordable without skimping on quality’.

In the past 12 months, Manchester Evening News have tried and tested a number of Dyson Airwrap alternatives, as well as the high-end hair tool itself.

While I’ve found nothing really lives up to the technology and results of the Dyson Airwrap, some of the cheaper alternatives offer some impressive looks, even if they’re not exactly the same.

One such tool is the Hot Tools Pro Signature dryer and volumiser, which comes in at £79.99, five times less than the cost of a Dyson set. The two-in-one tool comes with a handle and a large oval shaped brush with activated charcoal infused bristles that help absorb excess oil - perfect for day two or day three hair styling. And it’s even reduced on Amazon, down to £30.55 for a limited period.

Alternatively, the BaByliss Air Style 1000 four-in-one styler has been reduced by 50 per cent to £35, down from £70, and according to shoppers is the best dupe on the market for the Dyson AirWrap range, coming with a multitude of different attachments just like the Dyson.

TikTok's favourite Dyson Airwrap dupe appears to be the Revlon Pro Collection Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumiser, which is reduced to £41 from £62.99. The two-in-one styler creates volume at roots and curled ends in less time and with less damage than traditional dryers and stylers.

The closest competitor to the Dyson Airwrap, though, is the newly launched Shark Flexstyle, which launched in Autumn 2022. The Shark Flexstyle acts as a versatile multi-styling tool which, with a single twist rotates between a powerful hair dryer and a 5-in-1 styling wand. It uses that same Coanda Technology that wraps, curls and sets automatically, using air power to wrap hair around the barrel.

The Shark FlexStyle Air Styler comes in at £299.99 , complete with five attachments to dry, smoothe, style and curl with ‘no heat damage’.

However, if you really do want to drop almost £500 on the Dyson Airwrap, they’ve just launched a gorgeous new colourway, just in time for Valentine’s. The Airwrap and Supersonic Hair Dryer are now both available in a fiery Topaz Orange shade - and we’re obsessed. You can shop the new shade exclusively on the Dyson website here.
