Libya's Food Security Is Becoming a Global Trade Question

(Credit: Tama66 | Pixnio)

Libya's food story is written, first, at its ports.

In the first half of 2026, Julyana Free Port took in 587,645 tonnes of grain aboard 24 vessels, an 83% jump on the same period in 2025, when the port handled just over 321,000 tonnes across 17 ships. Vessel traffic rose 41%. The cargo — wheat, barley, corn and soybeans — arrived mostly in March and April.
