Broxburn Library is to be renamed in memory of a former local councillor.
The council received a request to rename Broxburn Library, currently located within an area of Strathbrock Partnership Centre, in memory of Alex Davidson, a former councillor in the area.
The library space would be retitled the Lex Davidson Library.
Mr Davidson’s family were contacted and informed about the request and were positive about the proposal.
A questionnaire was also sent to library stakeholders.
The Council Executive approved the renaming of the library on Tuesday.
Lex Davidson passed away in 2020 aged 72. Born and bred in Broxburn he served his community for 25 years as a local councillor and latterly the Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh Ward.
Leader of West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, is delighted
Lex is being honoured in his community and said: “Lex was a well-respected councillor for a long time.
“He was born and bred in Broxburn and cared greatly about his
local community, which he proudly served.
“I know that it will be a proud occasion for his family and I’m delighted that the library will be renamed in memory of Lex.”
