An administration officer for the Liberal Democrats has used an official email list to fire off a scathing attack on the minor party.
Kirsty O'Sullivan, who resigned her role last week, sent out an email on the party's official "Freedom Matters" letterhead on Wednesday with the subject heading: "Leaving the party".
"Having previously worked for the party, when we brought the administration side out from Senator (David) Leyonhjelm's office, I left (at) that time due to speaking up about the corruption and bullying within the party," she wrote in the email obtained by AAP.
"I had many conversations with exec members who totally agreed with me, yet were too weak to stand up.
"Only two men had 'the balls' to do anything about that particular issue, and the offending person was expelled from the party."
She said she was working for up to 80 hours a week while getting paid for 20, but was eventually able to get her pay up to 40 hours a week "but still at a low rate for the types of work I was expected to do".
"This party has a problem with nepotism, with using and burning people, and with misusing your donations. There is no functional structure within the party, and no way to resolve issues before it becomes a blow out," she wrote.
She said the party had a "big problem with women" and attacked the spending of money on failed High Court action to defend the use of the party's name against claims by the Liberal Party that it misled voters.
"This is my angry post," she wrote.
"Countless hours of devotion to this party over the years, and this is what they do to people. They burn people. Never a thank you. I cannot support it any longer. I would suggest that donors find out exactly where there money goes before you consider donating again."
The party's national president John Humphreys said in a subsequent email to members it had been an "unauthorised email" from Ms O'Sullivan, who he thanked for her "contributions" to the party.
"Kirsty's email makes a number of baseless accusations," he wrote.
"To be clear, all funds raised for the national campaign are being spent on the national campaign, with no campaign money going to LDP Admin or the national executive or the High Court challenge.
"Your donations are treated at all times with the utmost integrity and accountability.
"Suggestions of bullying, nepotism, and sexism are also unfounded."
He said the party would be running more candidates at the federal election than ever before.
"They are high-quality, dedicated, and hardworking people who are doing the party proud."
The LDP has applied to the Australian Electoral Commission for a proposed change of name to the "Liberty & Democracy Party", which would use the abbreviation "Liberty Democrats".
It is hoped the new name, which is currently being considered by the AEC, can be registered before the federal election in May.
The Liberal Party has held concerns for many years that the Liberal Democrats benefit from voters casting a ballot for the minor party's candidates by mistake.
