Aberdeen fans expected Jackie McNamara to be one of the best in his position - and Liam Scales must brace for the same if he's to have a success during a loan spell away from Celtic according to Richie Byrne.
The Irish defender joined the Hoops last year from League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers but after limited minutes under Ange Postecoglou, countryman and Dons boss Jim Goodwin has snapped him up on a season-long loan. Despite solid displays in the Premier Sports Cup group stages, some Aberdeen supporters have voiced their displeasure at another loan signing from Glasgow.
Ryan Christie and Adam Montgomery have made similar loan switches in recent seasons with Byrne very aware of what the latest Celtic loanee is set to face. Having made the move from Shamrock Rovers to Aberdeen via Dunfermline in his playing career, the 40-year-old knows scrutiny is going to be placed upon Scales' performances each week.
