Liam Payne hits back after saying he 'dislikes' former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik in candid interview

Liam Payne has spoken out after receiving backlash from a tell-all interview where he talked about his former One Direction band member. The singer, who rose to fame on The X-Factor as part of the boyband, told podcast host Logan Paul that he dislikes Zayn Malik.

The 28-year-old revealed that 'there are many reasons why' he dislikes Zayn, which didn't go down too well with fans. Listeners accused Liam of being 'disrespectful' towards his former bandmate and seemed to refer to an alleged incident between Zayn and his ex girlfriend Gigi Hadid's mum.

Liam has now broken his silence on social media with a statement where he admitted he perhaps 'didn't articulate' himself as well as he could have. The dad-of-one took to Twitter on Thursday morning to explain how he 'wouldn't normally comment' on the matter but it's 'hard to let it slide' when it comes to 'family.'

The singer wrote: "Guys - I wouldn’t normally comment on this stuff but when its your family it’s hard to let it slide. They mentioned a specific incident involving Zayn which I responded to - but listening back maybe I didn’t articulate myself as well as I could have.

"I was saying that there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side. That’s family. Zayn is my brother and I will stand by him forever."

Before making the 'dislike' comment, Liam appeared to share his thoughts on the rumour that Zayn allegedly 'shoved' Gigi Hadid's mum, Yolanda Hadid.

In response to a fight that allegedly happened between Logan's brother Jake Paul and Zayn, Liam mentioned that Gigi had tweeted 'Get yourself a respectful man', before saying 'that one didn't age very well'.

Liam then went on to say: "You can always look at the man for where he is and say, ‘Oh yeah, whatever, that guy’s a d***'. But at the end of the day, once you’re understanding what he’s been through to get to that point and also whether or not he wanted to be there.

"Listen, I don’t agree with any of his actions. I can’t commend some of the things that he’s done. I can’t be on his side for that," he added.

Zayn Malik hasn't yet commented on his former bandmate's interview.
