Hollywood star Liam Neeson has said he was surprised to see no wins for the cast of The Banshees of Inisherin.
Neeson jetted into Dublin on Tuesday night for the premiere of his new detective movie, Marlowe, which is out in cinemas on St Patrick’s Day.
The Northern Irishman said that even though he didn’t watch the Oscar’s, he was proud of Ireland’s record breaking 14 nominations.
Speaking at the Dublin red carpet premiere of Neil Jordan’s Marlowe, he said at the Stella Theatre: “I didn’t watch them. I’m very proud of the fact that we had 14 nominations.”
But he said he was shocked when cast from The Banshees of Inisherin came away with no awards.
“I was too,” he said. “I loved the film. Barry (Keoghan) what a beautiful… they were all great.
“Colin Farrell was just too handsome,” he said jokingly.
