Liam Gallagher shares ‘big announcement’ on Twitter ahead of massive Knebworth gigs

Liam Gallagher dropped news of ‘a big announcement’ and sent Twitter into a frenzy.

The former Oasis frontman teased the news on his official social media account on Wednesday, saying: “Big announcement tmoz and I mean BIG bigger than my nose bigger than rkids rite said Fred f***ing massive so stay tuned LG x.”

Fans were soon speculating it could be related to the sold out shows he’s playing at Knebworth this summer.

But on Thursday, it appeared that the "big announcement" was actually to do with some new music from the former Oasis frontman.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday morning he said: "New single feb 4th it’s called Everything’s Electric Cmon you know LG."

Liam is playing a huge homecoming show at the ground of his beloved Manchester City on June 1, before playing two similarly massive gigs at Knebworth on June 3 and 4, to celebrate 25 years since Oasis headlined there in 1996.

He’ll be joined on the bill by the likes of Kasabian and Michael Kiwanuka, but notably, not his brother Noel.

Noel has flatly refused to consider reforming Oasis for the best part of a decade, though he appeared to have softened slightly in recent years.

He’s recently joked that he would do it for £100 million, but he’s also said that the band’s legacy is now ‘set in stone’ too.

Noel told Australian TV show The Project: “If people have seen us, they’ll understand what all the fuss is about. If you didn’t see us, then that’s tough cos I’ve never seen The Beatles or the Sex Pistols.

“People ask me that question on a daily basis and I can only say to you that, I just don’t feel like it.

“When you’re in a band, it’s an absolute compromise so no I don’t think I could come up with an idea and then run it by four people and then six weeks later, somebody knocks it back because their cat’s got a cough so I like to march to the beat of my own drum.

“Oasis is done I’m afraid.”

The band split acrimoniously in 2009.
