Liam Gallagher has dared his critics to show up at his house and cancel him in person rather than try to start a campaign against him online.
The 49-year-old Oasis legend thinks the music world is being held back due to cancel culture – but he has issued a rallying cry for other musicians to tell overly sensitive critics to get stuffed.
The rocker has been scaling the charts since the 1990s thanks in part to his headline grabbing band Oasis – which has been on hiatus since 2009, and then in his band Beady Eye, and as a solo artist.
But Liam laments the heady days of rock and roll outspokenness and now thinks the musicians of today are too scared to make a splash out of fear of being cancelled – something he’s not rattled by himself.
He told the 2 Johnnies Podcast: “Who the f*** are these people cancelling you, anyway?
“Like, f*** off. Unless they come around to your house and say you’re cancelled.
“You’re still going to do your f*** thing, they don’t speak for everyone, do they? “
He went on to hint he welcomes his critics to try and take a proverbial pop at him and says one view should not overpower the views of another.
He said: “The cancelling people just speak for the cancelled world, they don’t f***ing speak for everyone.
“You can still go and do your gig, there are people out there who are going to like what you’ve got to say.
“Bring it f***ing on you f***ing squares!”
Liam then went on to say he thinks the music of today is a pale echo of the music that existed when he was romping up the charts in his heyday.
He thinks modern singers are too tame and lack opinion and conviction.
He said: “No one is really blowing my mind if I’m being brutally honest.
“I hear that all the time but you can’t be there’s got to be someone on the way up now.
“I just think this world now, the world we’re living in, there’s a lot of people out there who are scared to say what they want, I’m sure they’d get cancelled and all that tackle.
“I’d hate to think I was the last rock star, because that’s just f***ing sad. I have got a problem with a lot of these bands today who go, ‘I’m an artist.’
“No your f***ing not, you’re a geezer in a band so shut the f*** up. They’re all a bit pretentious, they’re all talking about the artistry, behave man.”
Meanwhile in a recent interview, Liam hinted his misses his days of performing in Oasis and Beady Eye now he has gone solo.
He told MOJO Magazine that being solo is "boring as f***, to be fair. I’d much rather be in a band, all bashing it out together. But as long as it sounds good that is all that matters."
