With the rise of mumfluencers and parenting podcasts, it seems everyone’s an expert in childcare now.
But there was one star we didn’t expect to be dishing out the advice – Liam Gallagher.
Yet, despite having been the bad boy of rock ’n’ roll since the 90s, he’s been sharing his dad tips on his latest one-off Sky special, Liam Gallagher 48 hours at Rockfield.
Dad-of-three Liam’s first gem of advice? Don’t just roll with it if kids start to act up.
He says: “If they step out of line they’ll get a telling off. Even if I haven’t got a leg to stand on, I do have a knee to bounce off. They say to me, ‘You can talk’. But I’m like, ‘Exactly’.”
And for his second bit of parenting wisdom? It’s not the mistakes you make, but what you do next that matters.
He says: “You try to guide them how it is.
“But people also need to make their own mistakes. Because it’s not the mistakes that matter, but how you wriggle your way out of them... like Houdini.”
The documentary follows Liam on a trip to the Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, South Wales, with his sons – Gene, 21, whose mum is Nicole Appleton, and Lennon, 22, whose mum is Patsy Kensit.
Gene was in court last month over an alleged 2019 brawl in Tesco’s, but the charges were dropped.
Now, Liam – who also has daughter Molly, 24, by Lisa Moorish – has been talking over new tracks with his music-loving sons and wanted them to see where Oasis recorded seminal 1995 album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory.
And the studio visit seemed to make him sentimental. Well, Liam-style anyway. He says: “Lennon comes across as the chilled one, but he’s got a little temper as well.
“Gene comes across as the lairy one – he’s a bit sensitive. They’re both f***ing little madheads.
“But they’re good. They’ve got good qualities, do you know what I mean?”
If he ever gets sick of music, a parenting book deal clearly awaits.
