Liam Gallagher won’t be able to Roll With It at Knebworth because organisers have banned him from partying on the Friday night.
The rocker is due to perform at the historic venue next weekend – but he will be escorted home after his Friday gig by police to make sure he doesn’t drink and fluff up the Saturday extravaganza.
A well-placed source tells me: “Liam knows he can’t get wasted on the first night so he’s agreed to have a police escort to stop him partying.
“Saturday night is a free-for-all and he’s going to enjoy himself, but on Friday he’s got to behave.”
Liam insists he will be taking care of number one before his epic Hertfordshire shows. He says: “You’ve got to look after yourself and stay away from the nutters until the last night of Knebworth. I’ve had a lot of big nights but I’ll give it a go.”
The eagerly-awaited gigs will see Liam return to the scene of his biggest triumph with Oasis, who played to 250,000 fans at Knebworth over two nights in 1996.
The star is due to perform 10 Oasis tracks, five new songs and five solo tracks, and has promised fans he will “sing like a lunatic”.
Liam’s mum Peggy will be cheering him on from the side of stage and he reckons he’s looking forward to tucking into a pint or two of Guinness laced with port.
The 49-year-old singer – whose new album C’Mon You Know is out now – has also created some special Jubilee memorabilia for the gig, which shows him dressed in royal regalia.
But Liam won’t be singing a song for the Queen any time soon.
He says: “I like her but not enough to sing a song for her. I’ll give her a shout out.
“She’s top, the Queen… I’ll give her a nod.”
Our source added: “Liam sees his Knebworth gigs as an alternative to the Jubilee weekend. He knows that people want to get away from that so he’s had some fun with his memorabilia. It’s King Liam all the way.”
Speaking to radio host Chris Evans on his breakfast show earlier this week, Liam said: “The people want this Knebworth.
“There’s nowhere else to be, it’s going to be big.”
I’m Definitely Maybe going to be bringing you all the goss from the gigs next week…
