Liam Gallagher gives hip operation recovery update amid Oasis reunion rumours

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has revealed he's recovering after undergoing hip surgery, telling his fans the operation last week 'went well'. The news comes as rumours swirl - once again - of a much hoped-for Oasis reunion as reports suggest the rift with his older brother, Noel, appears to be healing.

The Beady Eye star, who is 50, told fans he needed the joints replacing in his hip due to arthritis as a result of a longstanding thyroid problem.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Wonderwall rocker Liam, from Burnage, praised the medics involved with his treatment and care - and joked 'Riverdance here I come'.

He wrote: "Morning Rastas, so I had my hip operation last wk [week] all went well and RESPEK [respect] to all the doctors n nurses who looked after me. Big shout out to the A team for getting us home safe n sound. You know who you are and Florence guru I love and adore you. Riverdance here I come LG x."

After hearing the news, one fan said: "I hope the operation hasn't affected your swagger!!" But Liam replied: "I'm getting my physio to study old videos of my walk so we don't miss a trick, the comeback is real."

Fans will be hoping the 'comeback' refers to a long-awaited Oasis reunion after the rift between Liam and his brother Noel, 55, appears to be healing, reports The Mirror. Noel seems to have U-turned on the possibility of the band reuniting just days after it was reported the rocker had split from wife of 22 years Sara.

The High Flying Birds star quit the band in 2009, citing his difficult relationship with younger brother Liam as the reason why. However, there's now hope the band - who dominated the nineties Britpop scene - may one day agree to a hotly anticipated comeback.

Speaking about the possibility ahead of of the release of his latest album, Noel said 'never save never," to reunion hopes. He added: "That's not to say that those circumstances would never come about," reports BBC Radio Manchester.

Liam has had a few choice words to say about Noel over the years and didn't go to his wedding with Sara MacDonald in 2011.

In 2020, the mum-of-two called Liam 'exhausting' and revealed her brother-in-law had never met either of his nephews. However, after news of the couple's split broke, Liam hinted he was in the mood to put the past behind him.

Sharing a Google search for 'Hollies he ain't heavy he's my brother', fans were convinced the star wanted to bury the hatchet with Noel.
