Progress has been made over the past two weeks with his Achilles injury, but Liam Cooper admits it’s been a rough pre-season for him so far. The Leeds United captain is yet to kick a ball this summer because of that niggling issue and most recently was in Australia for the pre-season tour.
Despite starting the summer with optimism, Cooper flew out for the three-match tour and failed to make an appearance because of the troublesome heel issue. While he was not able to get onto the field, he will have consoled himself with being there to bed in the new faces among the squad.
Writing in the programme for Sunday’s friendly with Cagliari, Cooper provided an update on the issue and the progress he feels he has made. He was missing from Jesse Marsch’s squad for the game.

“Personally, for myself, it was frustrating to pick up a small Achilles injury which has forced me to miss all of the matches so far in pre-season,” he said. “It’s a tough one to take because I wanted to hit the ground running, but I feel like I’ve made progress over the past two weeks with it and I’m looking forward to getting back out on the pitch soon.”
