Liam Brady paid an emotional tribute to his former colleague Bill O'Herlihy during his last appearance as an RTE pundit.
The legendary midfielder was shown a video which included numerous clips of him as both a player and a pundit shortly after RTE's live coverage began ahead of Ireland's clash with Gibraltar.
Brady was clearly moved by the clip and was quick to pay tribute to his friend, who passed away in 2015.
He said: "It's sad seeing it to be quite honest because we all miss Bill. He was a great man in the presenter's chair. He knew how to keep order, which was difficult at times.
"He knew how to throw in a grenade every now and again and working with Eamon (Dunphy), there was never a dull moment.
"Great memories. Fantastic memories and I picked this match tonight to bow out because I have so many memories here as a player and some great memories as one of the panellists doing the punditry and I expect a guaranteed Irish win. I hope I'm not tempting fate."
Speaking on RTE Radio 1 on Monday afternoon, the former Arsenal and Juventus star said he is "not in love with the game anymore".
He commented: "I think things have changed with football now. I'm not in love with the game anymore. I like watching it and watching the players - the best players - but all the things that surround it, it's not really for me.
"And then I suppose, the arrival of social media in the last 10 years. I'm an old dog and you can't teach me new tricks so Twitter and Facebook and things like that, they're all gobbledygook to me."
