Liam Brady blasts Ireland squad as the 'worst group of players in my lifetime' in damning assessment

Liam Brady has blasted the Irish squad and called them the 'worst group of players in my lifetime' as he tore into Stephen Kenny's side.

Ireland were well below par on the night as they fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Greece and Brady did not hold back in his assessment of the squad.

Speaking on RTE, Brady said: "This is the worst group of players that any manager has had in my lifetime. You go through Martin O'Neill, Mick McCarthy, Steve Staunton, Jack Charlton, Brian Kerr had better players than Stephen has at the moment but somehow you've got to mold them into a team that gets you a result here and there and we haven't done that."

And Ireland legend Brady singled out Jayson Molumby in his criticism on the night.

"Stephen has been placing a lot of confidence in Cullen and Molumby. Now Cullen plays with spirit. I counted one good pass between the two of them. Cullen got Doherty free.

"I don't know what Molumby gives to the Irish team. He was non-existent tonight. Does he make a tackle? I didn't see him make a tackle. I thought the Greeks had loads of space so it'll be interesting to see what Stephen has to say about his selection."

The debate rumbles on about Stephen Kenny's future after yet another loss with qualification hopes all but over after two games and Brady heaped pressure on the manager.

"I know it's difficult for Stephen Kenny because these lads are not playing and not playing at a high level and haven't had good seasons but it's all about results," he added.

"Sooner or later it comes down to results. We've had two and a half years with Stephen now. Some of our performances have given us encouragement but when you look at our results they've been damning."
