The executive director of Lexington’s Veterans Affairs Healthcare will be the headliner at a town hall Thursday night at American Legion Post 24 in Georgetown. Russell Armstead said he wants to introduce himself to the veterans’ community and let them know about the wide variety of services available to them.
“We’ll have some subject matter experts with us that will provide information on suicide prevention, women's health care in the community, if, if appropriate, the caregiver support program.”
Other topics will include updates on the Pact Act, eligibility questions, suicide prevention and more. Armstead said he wants to attendees know he’s a vet, too.
“I want them to know that I make decisions from that perspective, in their best interests, and then really try to educate them on the things that we're doing.”
Armstead said he also wants veterans to know that in addition to the two Lexington campuses, there are VA clinics in Berea, Somerset, Hazard and Morehead. Thursday’s town hall will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is scheduled to last for an hour.
