Lexington mayoral race candidate expects to run for office again

Lexington City Council Member David Kloiber says he plans to remain active in addressing what he feels are pressing issues facing the bluegrass community. Kloiber failed in his mayoral run this month when incumbent Mayor Linda Gorton garnered more than 70% of the vote. The first-term Councilman said he can play a role outside of City Hall, working with existing organizations.

“I’ve got a lot of things we’re going to be doing with affordable housing. We got a lot of things we’re going to be working on as far as trying to partner with some groups to help with localized crime, but you know, it’s just one foot in front of the other. Let’s see what we can do,” said Kloiber.

Kloiber envisions himself running for office again. He said he’s not sure what office that might be and said it could be a position outside of local government.

“I was always told if you’re going to throw your hat in the ring once. You should be prepared to do it more. Just because we need people that are willing to step up and lead. So, I haven’t thought about how that’s going to manifest down the line. Right now it’s just about trying to make good on the things I see and can help,” said Kloiber.

Kloiber’s inaugural two-year term on the Lexington City Council concludes the end of December.
