The City of Lexington’s Juneteenth celebrations started last Saturday and will continue through June 19th. It’s the third year the city has officially recognized the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger – who’s buried in Lexington Cemetery – issued an order in Texas announcing that slavery had ended.
