Lewis Pirie wanted by Leeds and Fulham as Aberdeen face fight to keep rising star

Premier League pair Leeds United and Fulham are on the trail of Aberdeen’s rising attacker Lewis Pirie.

The duo were among a number of clubs who watched him star for for Scotland under-16s against Denmark. The teenager netted and was also involved in the penalty award that Jack Fletcher – Darren’s son – scored in the 4-2 defeat to the Danes. Pirie has impressed and is seen as one of the top talents coming through the Cormack Park ranks. Scotland under-16s take on hosts Spain on Saturday in the next game of their training camp.

Aberdeen have been producing a host of talented players from within their academy in recent seasons. Stephen Glass handed Liverpool star Calvin Ramsay his Pittodrie breakthrough. Jack McKenzie and Connor Barron have also turned heads in the Granite City. And highly-touted Lancelot Pollard signed for Rangers after impressing with the Dons.

Jim Goodwin is keen to give the stars of tomorrow their chance and Pirie fits the bill of a player who can make the grade at Aberdeen. But cast-iron interest down south means that won't be easy. English clubs are looking north in the search of academy stars after Brexit made it more difficult to secure top talents from across Europe and beyond.
