Lewis Hamilton CRASHES out of Monaco Grand Prix to end final practice as Mercedes face race for qualifying

Lewis Hamilton crashed out of the final practice for the Monaco Grand Prix as the seven-time world faces a race against time for qualifying.

The British star slammed into the barriers as he sustained front suspension damage, leaving his Mercedes team with a frantic job to get his car repaired in time for qualifying which starts at 3pm UK time. Hamilton lost control of his car and went through the right-hander Mirabeau and ended up in the wall.

The 38-year-old said: “Sorry about that, mate,” on his radio with engineer Peter Bonnington saying” “No worries, we will sort it.” The Englishman was in eighth place before he crashed out in the low-speed accident with just five minutes remaining, bringing the race to an abrupt end.

Max Verstappen topped the timesheets with Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez second.
