Derek Ferguson insists any decision over Lewis Ferguson’s future will rest with the player himself, despite mounting Rangers interest and the family’s deep Ibrox ties.
The former Ibrox midfielder, who turned out for the club in the 1980s, revealed he has stepped back from telling his son what to do, even as speculation over a move from Bologna to Rangers intensifies.
Speaking on Open Goal, he said: “I don’t advise him anymore. He’s clever enough, mature enough. I’m just there to support him. But I’m there to give him my wee tuppence worth. Of course I will if I see things I don’t like.”

Pressed on whether he had spoken to Lewis specifically about a potential switch to Ibrox, Ferguson chose to keep his counsel. “That’s the one thing I’m keeping private,” he added. “Sometimes you have to keep things within the four walls. So I’m going to do that.”
His comments come amid mounting excitement among Rangers fans over the prospect of Lewis following in his father and uncle's respective footsteps at Ibrox.
