Lewis Ferguson admits he had a "long think" about his future amid interest from Rangers during the summer.
The Scotland midfielder ended up staying with Bologna, where he has played 90 minutes and captained the side in every Serie A game so far, after not featuring as regularly last season.
Rangers were strongly linked with a move for him in the summer, even if it always seemed unlikely given the fees the Italian side would be looking for. His dad Derek then revealed publicly that talks did take place in the background, but no official offer was ever put to Bologna.
On international duty currently, the 27-year-old was quizzed on the situation ahead of facing Switzerland tomorrow.
He said: "I had a long think after the World Cup. I had a bit of time spent on holiday and I thought about my future. I was a little bit unsure, but nothing ever was really that close, to be honest.

"When I went back for pre-season with Bologna, we had a new manager and it was like a fresh start again. Although we've changed since, so it's been, again, another... I've had three new managers in the last two months.
"So, yeah, it was just that. I had a long think about my future and what that was going to look like. In the end, it was still at Bologna.
"I've loved every moment that I've had there. So, yeah, it was just about continuing that journey and seeing where it takes me."

Asked if it is an aspiration of his to one day play for Rangers, he added: "Yeah, I think one day. It's no secret I grew up a fan. That's absolutely no secret. My family's involved in the club and it was an aspiration of mine, a dream of mine as a kid, and that's not changed.
"But I don't want to speak about that while I'm still a player at Bologna. I've got too much respect for them.
"But, yeah, in the future, you never know. It might happen, it might not, but it's always been something in the back of my mind."
