Italian side Cagliari watched Aberdeen’s two-goal hero Lewis Ferguson do a job on Hibs.
The Serie A outfit was interested in the Scotland international in January and one of their representatives took in Saturday’s 3-1 Pittodrie win.
Cagliari’s scout would have been impressed as Ferguson netted two penalties to take his tally for the season to 14 and to put the Dons within touching distance of the top six.
Ferguson, who has now joined up with the Scotland squad ahead of Thursday’s friendly with Poland, said: “I was told. It doesn’t faze me. It doesn’t bother me.
“You never know who’s watching. Anybody could have been in the stand watching. You’ve just got to try and impress.
“I just try to play the way I normally play. If they’re impressed, then they’re impressed.
“But that sort of stuff doesn’t faze me.”
The Sardinian club were linked with a possible loan move and then a £3.5 million move if they had remained in the top-flight.
If they are to make a successful bid then they are going to have to come up with hard cash upfront this summer.
Aberdeen also turned down a low-ball offer from Premier League new boys Watford in the summer window.
The 22-year-old has two years left on his Pittodrie contract beyond this summer.
Italian rivals Bologna, who have Aaron Hickey, also failed in multiple offers for young Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay in January.
