Lewis Capaldi's new album is already fastest selling album of 2023

Lewis Capaldi’s brand new album ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’ has become the fastest selling album of 2023 so far.

The Official Chart Company said the Whitburn star has shifted 77,000 units by yesterday, surpassing 2023's previous fastest-selling album - Ed Sheeran's Subtract - with over 24 hours of tracking still to be accounted for.

In its opening week, Ed’s sixth Number 1 album totalled 76,000 chart units earlier this month.

Lewis’ brand new album continues to out-sell the rest of the Top 20 contenders combined.

The West Lothian singer released his highly anticipated record on Friday, 19 May after returning with his comeback single Forget Me last September.

And he could be on track to surpass the opening week sales of his debut LP Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.

Earlier this year the star fronted his Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now, which was released in March and gave fans an insight into how his second album was made, as well as his Tourette’s diagnosis and anxiety.

In promotion for his new album, Lewis took over NPR for his very own Tiny Desk Concert and let fans hear his brand new single Heavenly Kind of State of Mind. Afterwards, when speaking to an Australian news outlet, Lewis discussed the incredible relief he feels upon his new album being out in the world.
