Lewis Capaldi has announced a return to Manchester with a special outdoor concert taking place later this year.
For the first time ever, Wythenshawe Park will host a major outdoor summer concert, headlined by the Glaswegian singer-songwriter, performing tracks from his upcoming album. The show will take place on Friday, August 25, and follows his date at Manchester AO Arena, which takes place next week on Wednesday, January 18.
The announcement follows the well-received release of Capaldi’s new single ‘Pointless’, co-written by Ed Sheeran, from the popular singer's upcoming sophomore album ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’, which will be released in May.

Capaldi’s new album follows a similar template, musically and thematically to its predecessor ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’, which was the biggest-selling UK album of both 2019 and 2020, with tracks ‘Hold Me Why You Wait’ and ‘Before You Go’ both reaching number one spot in the UK Top 40 chart.
Speaking back in October when his tour was announced, Capaldi said the new album and tour will be more of the same after selling over ten million copies of his debut album, 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent'. He said: "I don't want to create a new sound for myself, or reinvent myself. The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss.
“I felt like I was sounding better because I was just chilled out in my own gaff. Also, a lot of this record was made with most of the same people who I worked with on the first one: TMS, Phil Plested, Nick Atkinson and Edd Holloway. At least one of them's on almost every song.”
The Scottish singer first emerged in 2017, with his first single ‘Bruises’ which rapidly amassed close to 28 million plays on Spotify worldwide, making him the fastest ever unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on the platform. Fast forward to 2023, and he is recognised as one of the most successful artists of his generation, earning Grammy and Ivor Novello nominations, and breaking a world record in becoming the first artist in history to sell out an arena tour prior to the release of a debut album.
Fans are being told to expect a "staggering world-class performance" when he he headlines Wythenshawe Park this August. The pop superstar will perform at Manchester's AO Arena on Wednesday, January 18 in the third leg of a 31-stop European tour.
Pre-sale for the outdoor show at Wythenshawe Park will go on sale on Thursday, January 19 on Ticketmaster and See Tickets, while general sale tickets will go on sale on Friday, January 20 here.
