Lewis Capaldi jokes about sex life and lack of new songs at Isle of Wight Festival appearance

Lewis Capaldi joked about his sex life and his apparent lack of new songs as he headlined Isle of Wight festival last night.

The Someone You Loved star admitted his nerves as he performed in front of thousands of fans and festival goers on the Saturday night of the four day event.

And fans hoping for a few new tunes were left disappointed, as the Scots singer admitted he had been 'lazy' over the Covid lockdown, The Sun reports.

But they were treated to a setlist brimming with fan favourites.

Lewis also went onto poke fun of his life under the sheets during the appearance - and joked that he has had ‘lots of sex’.

He told fans: “I’m very rusty at this. It’s been a while since I did a gig like this, which is also what I tell every girl I have a one night stand with.

“Yes I have had lots of sex. Lots of sex. This is gonna be fun, but I’m very nervous.”

Lewis also added: “I was meant to play new music but I’m a lazy c**t and didn’t do it over lockdown.”

In January 2021, Lewis Capaldi announced that he would be taking a break from social media to ‘crack on and finish’ his follow up to his 2019 debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.

A couple of months later, he told supporters that he had been writing ‘loads of tunes’ but admitted that Covid restrictions made it harder for him to record what he had been working on.

He added at the time: “I’m really sorry, I won’t be out there with you this year but I’ll be back in 2022 with new music and a s**t load of shows in as many places as I can possibly get to across the world.”

Lewis will play in the likes of Cork, Dublin, Belfast and Manchester before returning for a homecoming show at Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival on Sunday, July 10.

Tickets for the 25-year-old’s appearance at the Scottish festival are still on sale.
