Lewis Capaldi’s smash hit Someone You Loved has been listened to an astonishing 2.6billion times on Spotify.
The incredible total makes it one of the most streamed songs in the platform’s history and eclipses any other Scottish artist.
The hit is Capaldi’s most popular song according to a study of playlists appearing on the music streaming service.
Researchers looked at 41,773 tracks across 995 artist-inspired playlists and found it had been featured in 262 Spotify playlists. Someone You Loved – released in November 2018 – spent seven weeks at No1 and was the UK’s best-selling single of 2019.
It went on to become the longest-running top 10 UK single by a British artist the following year.
