Lewis Capaldi fans take over after star has Tourette's flare-up on stage

Lewis Capaldi shared a sweet moment with his fans on stage in Frankfurt after the singer experienced a Tourette’s flare-up.

The Scots star had turned away from the microphone whilst singing Someone You Loved as he dealt with the symptoms, but the crowd were on hand to fill in the gaps, writes The Mirror.

The 26-year-old previously opened up about having the neurological condition, which is characterised by involuntary sounds and movements known as "tics".

In the clip, which quickly went viral on TikTok and Instagram, the crowd were heard chanting the song back to Lewis and continued to do so until the end.

Soon after, Lewis was able to carry on with the gig and appeared to give a thumbs up to a stage hand to indicate that he was okay and good to continue with his performance.

Last year, Lewis was diagnosed with the condition and shared how he has been learning to live with the tics.

He has treatment for the condition including Botox injections and said he only opened up publicly about his diagnosis as people thought he was "taking cocaine or something".

Lewis admitted that he was relieved to get the diagnosis after fearing he had a degenerative disease.

He said: "I do this shoulder twitch quite a lot. You see it underneath TikToks and stuff, people like, 'why's he twitching?'

"Curiosity is fine, I get it, but some people are like, 'he's definitely taken cocaine'. Do you think, before I play to 20,000 people as an anxious person, I'm going to take a big line of cocaine? Never going to happen.

"It’s a new thing. I haven’t really learnt much about it. I'm learning.

“I got Botox in my shoulder to stop it moving - it works for a bit but it gets worse. The worst thing is when I'm excited, I get it. When I'm stressed, I get it. When I'm happy, I get it.

“Some days it’s more painful than others, sometimes it’s quite uncomfortable but it's not that big a deal. It looks a lot worse than it' looks. I guess that’s it."

He added: “When they told me, ‘We think you’ve got Tourette’s’, I was like, ‘Do you know what, that makes so much sense’.

“When I look back at my interviews from 2018 and all the rest of it I can see that I’m doing it, but it comes and goes.

"Sometimes I can go months without doing it. I thought I had some horrible degenerative disease so I’ll take Tourette’s.

"Other than that, healthy as f***."
