Lewis Capaldi had a hilarious comeback to Mo Gilligan accidentally calling him Sam at the BRITs last night.
The comedian introduced Lewis as "Sam Capaldi", ahead of his performance of Forget Me at the bash last night, later acknowledging his mistake, explaining that it's live TV and these things happen.
Hit-maker Lewis took the slip-up in good spirits, sharing a photoshopped picture of his face on the body of Sam Smith from the evening, simply captioning the picture: "Sam Capaldi x".
Sam, who was nominated for two awards, made an extraordinary fashion statement at the BRITs with an extravagant all black ensemble.
Stepping out, the Dancing with a Stranger singer wore a latex outfit which featured a rather high neck, sleeves and legs which appeared to be overinflated and a zip going up the front of his all-in-one look.
The star opted to rock a pair of heeled boots and a pair of tiny earrings as they posed for photographs on the red carpet before making their way into the main arena area.
Piers Morgan, never one for keeping his thoughts to himself, accused Sam of being “over-thirsty for attention” in a savage outburst aimed at the singer.
The TalkTV presenter took a swipe at the singer’s outfit choice as he shared his views on the look with his 8.3million Twitter followers.
Posting a snap of Sam on the red carpet in the curious look, Piers wrote: “Methinks ‘they’ is getting a teeny weeny bit over-thirsty for attention #BRITs.”
The harsh comment caught the attention of other social media users who took the opportunity to call out Piers.
While Lewis' outfit of a maroon jacket with a floral design was more subdued than Sam's, he also courted attention on the red carpet as he entered the Universal Music BRIT Awards after-party - by rolling around on the floor.
Lewis drew focus as he rolled across the carpet and flipped the bird at waiting photographers.
Dressed all-in black save for the red jacket, the star eventually got to his feet and beamed for the paps.
Lewis was earlier embroiled in controversy when he locked lips with Harry Styles while at the ceremony.
Footage of the pair kissing went viral - but many fans hit out at the singers to accuse them of ‘queerbaiting’ - the act of teasing fans over their sexuality by playing up to cameras.
As the backlash steadily grew online, however, Lewis disappeared into 180 Studios to party the night away with a host of other celebrities.
Fellow singer Mabel posed alongside Lewis on the red carpet before disappearing indoors with him.
She turned heads in a striped suit outfit - while wearing nothing buy a bra under her suit jacket and matching the outfit with a hat and black shoes.
Music legend Sophie Ellis-Bextor brought some urgent glamour to the red carpet as she arrived in a striking green outfit.
