Lewis Capaldi has admitted he is 'relieved' his second album, Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent, will hit shelves tomorrow.
The West Lothian singer will release his highly anticipated record on Friday, 19 May after returning with his comeback single Forget Me last September. The Scots star fronted his Netflix documentary How I'm Feeling Now, which was released in March and gave fans an insight into how his second album was made, as well as his Tourette's diagnosis and anxiety.
In promotion for his new album, Lewis took over NPR for his very own Tiny Desk Concert on Wednesday and let fans hear his brand new single Heavenly Kind of State of Mind. Speaking to an Australian news outlet, Lewis discussed the incredible relief he feels upon his new album being out in the world.
The journalist for daily chat show The Project opened the chat with Lewis by remarking: "Hi there Lewis Capaldi, it appears to me that writing a second album seems pretty simple, yeah?"
"It's a piece of p***, if I can say so myself." The Scots star joked. "Yeah, it was difficult."
He continued: "If I can be honest, I can liken it to anything it's like I have been holding in a s*** for as long as I can remember. And I've just now started to relieve myself upon the general public. That's what it feels like.
"That's the only thing I can think of that's similar. I feel that sort of relief when you take a big dump."
Lewis added: "I've had a colonic before, and it feels very similar."
The interviewer continued and asks if Lewis feels any pressure to recreate the success of his first album, including his smash hit single Someone You Loved. "Yeah thank you for bringing that up again," Lewis quipped.
"I'm quite happy to be the Someone You Loved guy for the rest of my life. At the end of the day, I still wrote that song. If people are like, 'Well you only did it once', I can say 'Well it's once more than you'. It's that sort of feeling I have."
He continued: "Yeah I'm quite happy to be the Someone You Loved guy. I'll show up to festivals in my 50s and sing that one song. I don't mind at all that being my future."
