Lewis Capaldi has admitted he has experienced "extremely low moments" in recent years as he discusses his new song and documentary trailer. The West Lothian star said in a candid social media post that he is "wildly nervous" about his intimate Netflix show, How I'm Feeling Now, to be released next month.
Lewis, 26, delighted fans with the news that the trailer for his documentary would be released on March 16, with a brand new song of the same name coming out the following day. In the social media post, the Someone You Loved singer shared screenshots from his notes app on his phone where he detailed his mental health as well as the documentary and music updates for fans.
The statement read: " When the opportunity to make a documentary came up for me I was extremely hesitant. I think because I seem quite open about a lot of things whether it be in interviews, on stage or social media people assume they know a lot about me and my life but in actual fact I tend to keep a lot of things to myself as a matter of preference."
He continued: "I feel like there's a lot of things in it I haven't spoken about before and in truth the whole film became way more intimate than I'd ever imagined so it feels like a particularly vulnerable position to be in."
On the second slide, Lewis wrote: "Obviously I completely recognise how lucky I am to have the life I do and I know there are people in much worse positions than I am out there but as much as the last 5 years have been the best of my life, I would be lying if I said it hasn't all taken its toll mentally and honestly, there have been some extremely low points and that's what this song is about.
"I know the last few years have been and continue to be difficult for everyone so hopefully you relate to the tune in some way, and it might be nice to hear there's someone else in a similar boat as you, I know it would for me."
Lewis went onto thank the people involved in making the project a reality, and gushed over the "amazing" experience.
In typical Lewis style, he finished his statement with: "I doubt I'll be rushing to make another one anytime soon because having a camera crew with you everywhere you go makes you look like a d*** and is quite simply f***ing stupid."
Fans praised the singer for his candid admission, as they buzzed over his new projects. One wrote: "so happy for you!!! Will be watching from Spain and can't wait!! your music means a lot to me."
"i’m so excited i could cry," another replied. A third added: "cannot wait for this! im so proud of you for opening up so much i know how hard it must be x".
A fourth gushed: "omg yesss, I'm so proud of you Lewis. Can't wait to see it !!," while someone else echoed: "I'M SO PROUD OF YOU. VERY EXCITED TO SEE THE DOCUMENTARY. I LOVE YOU A LOT."
Lewis Capaldi's Netflix documentary How I'm Feeling Now will be available to stream on Netflix on April 5, 2023.
