Dylan Levitt insists the good, the bad and the ugly of the last 12 months have ensured he will be a better player for Hibernian.
The 22-year-old penned a three-year deal with the Easter Road outfit earlier this month in a £300,000 move from Dundee United.
The former Manchester United youngster enjoyed a rollercoaster final 12 months at Tannadice, with his performances earning him a place in the Wales squad for the World Cup in Qatar in November.
But he also struggled to make as big an impact as hoped for the Tangerines as they suffered the embarrassment of relegation from the Premiership.
Levitt believes both experiences will help him in the coming weeks and months.
He said: “Last season wasn’t great for everyone at the club [United], but as a footballer you’ve got to move on quickly from those things and learn as much as you can.
“For me, personally, I’ve done that at an early age, so throughout my career now I’ll always take lessons from what that taught me last season.
“Being away with the international team, especially at the World Cup, was massive for me and my family as well.
“Gaining that experience from being in camp over there obviously helps when you come back to your club as well.”
Levitt is looking forward to the prospect of European football with Hibs as they prepare for the first-leg of their Europa Conference League second round qualifier next Thursday.
And he is convinced he can look forward to a successful season with the Leith outfit after being persuaded to move to Easter Road by manager Lee Johnson’s attacking beliefs.
He added to Sky Sports: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge. Speaking with the gaffer before moving here, his philosophy of play suits me to a T and I just can’t wait for the actual season to start now.
“The midfield rotations, getting on the ball, wanting to attack and get loads of shots, crosses and goals, and play free-flowing attacking football [are all attractive].
“I was excited when I got told about this move, to a massive club, massive stadium, massive support, home and away. Playing against them in the last couple of seasons shows what they’re really about.
“So, for me, it’s a really positive move.”
