Levi Colwill gives five-word response to Liverpool question after honest transfer admission

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill rejected the chance to put to bed speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge - with the 20-year-old refusing to play down links to Liverpool in a recent Instagram live.

Colwill - who is contracted with the Londoners until the summer of 2025, but has the option of an extra year should he play enough games - has seen speculation surrounding his future rise in recent weeks after a string of excellent performances for England's under-21s during their European Championship success in Georgia over the summer.

The ECHO understands that Colwill is admired at Anfield and club officials kept a keen eye on his progress while on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion last campaign. Meanwhile, newly-appointed Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has already that confirmed he will hold talks with the England youth international when he returns from his holiday later this month.

Despite enjoying a post-tournament vacation, that hasn't stopped Colwill from sending quarters of both Chelsea's and Liverpool's fanbase into overdrive with his recent comments when asked about a potential summer move to Anfield during an Instagram live.

While on the social media app, Colwill was pressed by a friend to give some clarity over where his future lies when he said: "Even my Jamaican bredrens [mates] are saying Levi to Liverpool." To which the Chelsea defender replied: "[I] said no football talk, man."

It isn't the first time Colwill has been asked about his Chelsea future in recent days, speaking after Lee Carsley's England side defeated Spain in Saturday night's under-21s final, thanks to a goal from Reds midfielder Curtis Jones, he said: "I’ll speak to my family, speak to everyone I need to and make a decision.

"I’ve got to play at the end of the day to hopefully get there [England senior team] and go to the next camp.”
