Wonderful news that castle is reopening
I’ve always loved Nottingham Castle. Reading the story by Oliver Pridmore (“Just £12 to visit the castle all year when it reopens”, Post, May 19) was very interesting. It’s always been a tourist attraction so to see a fee of £12 for a year is very good.
Nothing is cheap nowadays. So it’s nice to know you can now look around at your leisure knowing you can return at no extra cost. There’s certainly plenty to see and enjoy.
I wish the castle all the best and hope it’s a really busy summer. There’s lots of other extras being offered to adults regarding children.
Some of my happiest memories as a child were the exhibitions, tours, picnics, the wonderful bandstand and just admiring the beautiful grounds. My favourite painting in the gallery was of a boy being questioned (“When did you last see your father?”).
Those days out will never be forgotten, with the castle being a Sunday afternoon delight. Happy days to continue!
Jean Taylor, Basford
