Let us know how you feel about Andy Burnham's proposed bus reforms

Bus company Rotala have launched an appeal against Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham's proposed bus reforms, and we want to know what side of the debate you fall on.

The operator, which owns Diamond, won the right to appeal last week after a judge had initially ruled against bus firms following their claim that the reforms were 'irrational' and 'unlawful'.

The reforms would see buses move towards a franchise system, where operators would bid to run services under public control.

Following the announcement of the appeal, Burnham has hit back and claimed that he still intends to 'press ahead' with his proposed reforms.

Some of our readers have already backed the plans, with one saying: "I agree with Burnham, keep on fighting for this. Am sick of having to purchase a ticket that covers 'all buses' just because different companies run different routes."

"Its a nightmare if you just purchase a dayrider or weekly ticket for Stagecoach and discover your next bus is on First whereby you have to pay again."

Another added: " Burnham should carry on with this. Centralised services providing the routes people need as opposed to what individual companies want to run."

Others were critical of the appeal, with one person saying: " If only they'd focused all that fight and enthusiasm into actually providing the transport that people rely on."
