Developers Voxler and Ravenscourt are gearing up for the release of the latest instalment of their annual Let’s Sing game.
But before then they have a special release which celebrates Sweden’s famous supergroup, ABBA. Let’s Sing Presents ABBA is a new iteration of the karaoke game, available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, that solely features tracks from the Swedish supergroup. Like other games in the series, players will have to perform various different songs, trying to be as pitch-perfect as possible to unlock loads of goodies.
The game grants players two methods to register their vocals against the original tracks. Players will be able to purchase a USB microphone if they don’t already have one or use a mobile phone via the Let’s Sing app.
Both methods work well, but the USB microphone was a much better option as it was far more accurate, whilst players will need to have a good phone to match the quality. Players will be able to enjoy thirty-one tracks including 'I Still Have Faith In You' from their latest album Voyage. Having access to this massive back catalogue from the get-go is brilliant, allowing fans to get stuck in and create a custom playlist from their favourite tracks.
The Playlist is definitely one of the best features, as it allows players to curate their own list of music and play it in one of four competitive modes. It’s great that Let Sing Abba is literally giving players the power to dictate that experience without having to unlock or pay for music.
There are a number of modes for players to pick from, each offering a vastly different experience. Legend mode is where players have to complete various different challenges and face off against avatars based on the supergroup in a boss battle. The challenges aren’t extremely difficult but they do take some singing finesse to gain the most stars, especially hitting those high notes.
But this mode offers enough variety to keep players returning for another playthrough, especially the completionist. My only gripe is that once a player manages to complete all the objectives the song stops, rather than finishes.
Classic mode will let players select their favourite tracks and compete against their friends. Each song has a difficulty level with the lesser-known songs being the hardest.
This mode is a great opportunity for ABBA superfans to show off their musical knowledge and try to topple the world's high scores.
It doesn’t end there as Let's Sing ABBA is stacked with plenty of other modes including Feat mode where players can sing a duet with their friends or the CPU and World Contest which allows players to go against the best from around the world.
Let’s Sing Presents ABBA is filled with a wide variety of different modes that offer various gameplay styles granting fans so many ways to interact with each of their favourite songs. There’s just so much value and replayability that will make Let's Sing ABBA a crucial game for fans of the Swedish supergroup.
Let’s Sing Presents ABBA’s user interface is simple but smart, as it allows players to keep track of their progress while trying to hit the right notes. For instance, Feat mode will show players just how in, or out, of tune with their fellow singers they are, allowing them to readjust their vocal cords to match their partner.
Each song will be accompanied by a music video, the lyrics and a scoring system. It may sound like a lot of things are going on at the same time but everything is nicely laid out to ensure players won’t get distracted from the main tasks.
There isn’t much in terms of unlockables, new avatars, new mixtape volumes and a few other bits. That being said, the sheer amount of gameplay styles greatly overshadows this.
Let’s Sing Presents ABBA Verdict: 4/5 (Nintendo Switch)
