It's not just incomings that will dominate Arsenal's summer transfer window, as departures across the first-team and youths squads are to be expected before deadline day.
Whilst supporters are hopeful for positive news regarding the potential arrivals of Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha, Lisandro Martinez and Youri Tielemans, to name a few, to go along with Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira. The Gunners have been busy over the past few days confirming some outgoings.
Starting on Monday with Harry Clarke and Omar Rekik joining Stoke City and Sparta Rotterdam, respectively, on season-long loan deals. Those deals swiftly followed up with Tyreece John-Jules sealing a move to League One outfit Ipswich Town as he looks to bounce back from a miserable 2021/22 campaign.
Two more deals were announced by Arsenal on Thursday, with Mika Biereth joining RKC Waalwijk on loan, but Jordi Osei-Tutu's return to Bochum - where he spent the 2019/20 season - is a permanent transfer, and the defender has taken to social media to pen an emotional farewell message.
"I am privileged to be able to say I wore the Arsenal Shirt," he wrote on Instagram. "The last seven years have been a priceless experience. I will forever be grateful for all the experience and insight gained from the various managers and coaches I have worked under. And I would also like to thank the Arsenal fans who have always been supportive.
"Thank you, @arsenal. You will always be in my heart. North London Is Red. But you know what they say; when another door closes, another door opens.
"I am over the moon to be able to return to the club I fell in love with on loan @vflbochum1848.official. Ever since leaving, I have always dreamt of returning, and I'm delighted to once again put on this blue shirt. I am ready to work hard and fight for this wonderful club. I can't wait to see all the fans again at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion."
Despite not making a single competitive first-team appearance for Arsenal, the response to his farewell message highlights just how popular he was at the club, with the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Biereth, Ben Cottrell, Charlie Patino and Brooke Norton-Cuffy all wishing him well ahead of his new adventure.
Furthermore, Emile Smith Rowe replied with a simple four-word message that read: "All the best lad" with a love heart emoji alongside it. Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah reacted to the news by uploading a picture of Osei-Tutu to his Instagram Stories, saying: "Let's go @jordi.ot".
Osei-Tutu has signed a three-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit whose Director of Sport, Sebastian Schindzielorz, is delighted to have sealed a free transfer for the defender: "We know Jordi Osei-Tutu very well, the memories of his skills and strengths are still very fresh in everyone's mind," he told the club's official website.
"Speed, dynamism and technique are what set him apart. We continued to watch him after his season at VfL and followed his development. Jordi has matured further. His potential is still enormous. We are optimistic that he will make the leap to the Bundesliga."
