In an adorable announcement from Edinburgh Zoo, the world has been blessed with a new baby pygmy hippopotamus to be obsessed with: Haggis the hippo. The little guy is so cute, you almost forget the overwhelming sense of panic the world feels right now. What do you mean? There’s totally nothing else on my mind right now. LA LA LA LA LA.
“Moo Deng? Who Deng?” Edinburgh Zoo wrote in a cheeky post to X, declaring the birth of the adorable pygmy hippo calf, who in her very first days of being alive will get to witness the end of world.
Anyway, let’s look at the hippo already. I need some endorphins.
Moo Deng? Who deng? Introducing… Haggis 🏴

Otto and Gloria have welcomed an ADORABLE pygmy hippo calf! She is doing well, but we’ll be keeping the hippo house closed for the time being so that our expert keepers can keep a close eye on mum and baby at this sensitive time 🦛💛 pic.twitter.com/ceGtARuzyR
Wow, wasn’t that a cute little creature to put on your feed! I sure needed that!
For a second there I almost wasn’t thinking about how tomorrow millions of US citizens are going to vote for a convicted felon.
As the world continues to be obsessed with the moist goddess Moo Deng, it sure is great to have a new pygmy hippo to idolise who hasn’t made me think about US election.
AHHH LORD HELP IT’S TOMORROW WE’RE SO DOOMED.
Apologies. Where was I? Oh yeah, Haggis.
Hoofstock team leader at Edinburgh Zoo Jonny Appleyard has said that the young calf is “doing really well so far”, which must be nice. I’m not going to sleep a wink tonight.
“The first 30 days are critical for her development, so the pygmy hippo house will be closed for now to allow us to keep a close eye on mum and baby at this sensitive time,” said Donny. I mean Jonny. End me now.
The breeding system at the zoo has been praised for its successful breeding of adult pygmy hippos Otta and Gloria, as the species is known to be critically endangered.
Much like modern democracy.
I mean, uh, the thing I’m supposed to be thinking about.
Cute animals… Yes. Looking up more cute animals.
Oopsie daisy. In trying to find more photos of Haggis I accidentally opened Twitter and saw this:
The first in-person votes for the election are in from tiny New Hampshire township, Dixville Notch, where there are six registered voters.

It’s a tie in the town of Dixville Notch.
We are so doomed. He’s going to say it was stolen again. It’s all over.
I can’t do this for another four years. Please America, have mercy.
I’m barely sleeping. I’m losing hair. My sentences are as coherent as Joe Biden‘s.
For the love of all things good, don’t mess this up, America. I’m begging.
Anyway, congratulations to the Glasgow zoo for their baby giraffe or whatever.
Good luck everyone.
