Leon Edwards has repeated his UFC title-winning head kick on training partner Ian Garry - and left needing medical treatment.
Edwards won the UFC 170lb title with a sensational final-round win over Kamaru Usman in August, which has seen him become only the second British champion in the promotion's history. Usman had been in control of the fight until the final round when Edwards KO'd the champion with a stunning head kick.
Edwards and Usman are expected to meet again next year with the UFC keen to host the fight at a UK stadium. And the Brit has been training with rising prospect Garry who is currently on a record of three wins with no defeats since joining the promotion and is viewed as a star for the future.
Garry posted a video on his Instagram taken by his wife, which showed himself driving to the hospital to get his tooth checked out after feeling the wrath of Edwards' kicking power. He said during the video: “Anyone watch the Leon Edwards, Usman fight? Anyone know how that went? One of the best head kicks in the UFC. Yeah, I might have felt what that kick felt like on Wednesday morning.
“(Look at) the f****** size of my lip. Um, we went to the hospital this morning because for the last two days I’ve been in excruciating pain — she’s shooting f****** through my face from my teeth. So yeah, Leon, I’m blaming you for my tooth f****** pain." He added in the caption: “My wife always makes sure my ego is in check.
"But he never would have landed it if my cardio was on point. I have been off for four months. But he did land it. F*** Leon Edwards.” Garry was clearly talking differently as a result of the injury, which his wife revealed had been seen to by a dentist despite the Irish star refusing to give away all the information about the incident.

Before taking on Usman again, Edwards first intends to negotiate a new deal with the promotion before fighting again. He said: "I need a new one now, 100 per cent.
"Not yet because as far as dates and fights, that normally happens when you talk about fights because you use the fight to negotiate the contract. When it's time to start talking about the fight and the date of the fight, we'll start negotiating a new deal and go from there."
