Leon Balogun ended a hectic week at QPR by netting his first goal since leaving Rangers in a 2-1 win over Wigan.
The Nigerian defender was convinced by former Ibrox assistant manager Michael Beale to join his revolution at the Championship side over the summer, now sitting top of the English second tier after Balogun's header cancelled out a Nathan Broadhead leveller. Beale was the subject of intense speculation over the Wolves manager role this week but turned that Premier League opportunity down.
His former centre-back at Rangers helped end a busy few days with three points. Balogun proved a favourite at the Light Blues after joining from Brighton in 2020 but manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst did not offer him a new contract at the end of last season. Loftus Road boss Beale said of the win over Wigan: "What pleased me most about the performance was the three points.

"It was a tough week and I said I didn’t care if we win ugly. It was a tough game after a long week. Obviously we had the defeat at Luton and then the two home games.
"We put a lot of energy into the last two games, so to get the two wins was the most important thing. I didn’t think we were at our free-flowing best.
"We lacked energy at times. Ultimately, when you are not at your best between the boxes or when the game is tight, make sure you win in them. Today we had to come up with two set-plays which is really pleasing."
