A Sefton leisure centre which has just undergone a multi million pound renovation is partially closed after a leak caused by heavy rain.
Crosby Lakeside centre at Crosby coastal park in Waterloo has been closed since Monday after a leak caused by downpour affected electricity in a large section of the centre. A Sefton Council spokesperson, tweeting via Active Sefton, posted Monday afternoon that “unforeseen circumstances” meant the centre was closing “until further notice”.
The post said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances Crosby Lakeside adventure centre will be closed until further notice. This will include all indoor and outdoor activities. Apologies for any inconvenience.”

Active Sefton later provided an update revealing the cause of the closure, which will affect part of the centre until at least Friday.
A statement posted by Active Sefton said: “Due to the heavy downpour, a water leak has affected the electrical supply to the gym and water sports section of Crosby Lakeside.
“We expect this section of the building to remain closed until Friday.
“At this time the Bistro & Restaurant remains open for business.”
Active Sefton said the closure was for the “health and safety of all members and users.”
It added: “We will do our utmost to keep you updated via social media or email As part of your membership you are able to access any of our other leisure centres.”
Some of the facilities at the Crosby Lakeside complex, based at Crosby Coastal Park in Waterloo, recently received a £4m renovation after funding was provided by the Liverpool City Region.
The nearby Lake House, which is operated by recently formed council company Sefton Hospitality Operations Ltd, was due to open yesterday with metro mayor Steve Rotheram tweeting that he had paid a visit to check out the refurbished facility.
Sitting alongside the leisure facilities at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, the Lake House includes a new cafe and restaurant the Lake Kitchen and also features four conference and events spaces and 14 rooms, which have been refurbished as part of the project.
The refurbishment was beset by problems last year after work stalled at the site, leading Sefton Council to appoint a new contractor for the project.
