Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall announced in December that the girl group is preparing to take a break.
The news did not come as a surprise as many had speculated the future of the band after Jesy Nelson quit the foursome in 2000.
The remaining three girls will go their separate ways, to pursue new individual projects, after their final Confetti tour.
And now, an insider has shared that new mum Leigh-Anne, 30, was keen to explore working alone and has "been ready to branch out on her own for some time."
They also explained that many record labels were hoping for the mother of two to sign with them - especially after she successfully worked on festive movie Boxing Day, where she sang solo songs for the movie soundtrack.
"A number of labels were keen to bag Leigh-Anne but Warner seemed the best fit.
"She's already been working on tracks for months," the source told The Sun.
"She unequivocally loves Little Mix, and always will, but she's been ready to branch out on her own for some time."
Little Mix fans were devastated, last year, when the former X Factor singers took to social media to share they were "taking a break from Little Mix."
They wrote: "We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix.
"It’s been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects.
"We can’t thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much.
"We are not splitting up - Little Mix are here to stay We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future.
"We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.
"We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives. Little Mix is forever See you on tour! Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie x."
